We came out playing really smoothly in the first set, but we knew that with St. Charles East it is always a battle. They came out strong in the second set to take a quick lead and kept the pressure on us the whole time. The third set was pretty back and forth the whole time, with both teams playing tough defense, taking good swings and fighting till the end. We went down 22-24 and were able to grind our way back with a couple good swings and an ace for a great 26-24 win.”
“I also want to mention that it was our DigPink night tonight and we were able to raise $2,241 for The Side Out Foundation for breast cancer research. We and St. Charles East came together to honor and remember all of those who have been affected by breast cancer and to me, that is bigger than any win. We talk to the girls about how there are bigger things in life than volleyball, and tonight was an incredible example of that. I am so proud of and thankful for everyone involved in both programs for a successful night and fundraiser.”

But when we let the second set get away from us, we lost the fight and the aggressive mentality we needed to play with. So, good to see us fight back when we were down big in the third set, but our whole season has been about errors at the wrong times. We made great plays to get back in it, then 4 errors on their last 6 points. When we change that, we’ll start winning more of these tight three-set matches we’ve been losing. Junior libero Elli Amjadi had an excellent match. She had 28 digs and an ace, and she just keeps us in so many rallies. Our setters made good decisions tonight, and when we served tough, we were winning points. Senior outside hitter Brooke Bedell had some nice runs and good defense, and junior outside hitter Peyton Self served great with 2 aces and a lot of pressure on the Vikings.”
