Batavia coach McKenna Kelsay: “What a match. This was the first time in school history that we have beaten St. Francis. We came out pretty tough and steady to take a lead in the first set, but St. Francis fought back to take the lead 25-24. I was really happy with how our girls stayed calm and were able to pull it out. The second set, St. Francis had all the momentum from the get-go. They hit some great shots on us, and we couldn’t get anything going from the service line on our swings. The third set was a back and forth battle where both teams played very well. We did a great job of distributing the ball around and playing great defense at times. It was going to come down to who made the right plays at the end and we did a really good job of staying composed. I am so proud of the girls and happy for them to get a really big win at a really tough place to play.”
