The 2019 Batavia varsity volleyball team has been awarded the United States Marines Corps (USMC)/American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2019-20 academic year.
The team earned an impressive cumulative grade point average of 3.84 despite the move to remote learning during second semester.
Batavia has won the award 26 out of a possible 28 seasons, including the last 23 consecutive years.
The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale.
