College of DuPage names coaching staff for new men’s volleyball program

West Aurora boys’ volleyball coach Tolis Koskinaris (left) and Oswego’s Frankie Martinez will lead the new men’s volleyball program at College of DuPage.

A familiar coaching staff will lead the Chaparral men’s volleyball program when it opens in 2022-23.

Head women’s volleyball coach Tolis Koskinaris and assistant Frank Martinez will hold those respective positions for the athletic department’s new sport when it gets underway next season.

“Both of us are excited to begin a sport that is well received at the high school level here in DuPage County,”’ Koskinaris said. “It is the most saturated area in terms of boys volleyball participation in the Midwest.”’

Coupled with an affordable option to attend COD, Koskinaris and Martinez believe that the sky is the limit for success.

“COD will give kids another option to play volleyball,”’ Martinez said. “If the talent isn’t ready to play at the four-year level, then we have an option for them to get there and reach their potential by playing competitive volleyball.”

Both Koskinaris and Martinez coach boys’ volleyball in the area. Koskinaris is the head coach of the West Aurora program and Martinez is the head coach at Oswego.

Training will begin next fall and the regular season will begin in late January 2023.
