Palos Courts announces postponement of the Point Series until January

The Palos Point Series has been put on hold until at least January due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Palos Court Point Series, the traditional start of the boys’ club season in Illinois for age groups 14 through 18, has been postponed until at least January, Palos Courts Sports Complex director Adam Beck said in an email to participating clubs Monday.

“Since we are, unfortunately, in no different phase here in Illinois, we are going to have to cancel the November portion of the Palos Point Series and hope we can get restarted in January 2021,” Beck said.

Last year, the B18 Palos Point Series tipped off on the first Saturday in November with the B16 series kicking off the following weekend. The Palos Point Series wrapped up in early January prior to the Boys Winter Volleyball Championship at McCormick Place two weeks later.

The 2021 Boys Winter Volleyball Championship is scheduled for January 16-18. However, tournament host N3T Volleyball LLC has indicated that it may not be possible to run the tournament in Chicago and is looking at alternatives.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most boys’ club teams in Illinois have not competed since the Dennis Lafata Boys Bid Classic in St. Louis, Missouri, in late February 2020.
