Vernon Hills coach Chris Curry: “This was a really successful weekend for us. We’re trying a lot of combinations, fitting in some new parts, and we weren’t really sure how this would go. But we played a little better each match, served a little tougher, hit a little smarter. And the defense really started to come around. These guys put in a solid effort, and Barrington was just better. They’re tough to match up against with all that size. So now we know what we need to do, what we need to work on if we want to be one of the best teams and not just a good team. This week was quite a journey for the boys. We didn’t give Warren the effort they deserved (a loss on Wednesday), and that cost us. It also woke the boys up, refocused them. I’m pretty happy where we’re at heading into spring break.”
