Benet coach Brad Baker: “We’ve been getting a lot of kids in the game, which is good. We’re getting everybody in and getting a lot of kids a lot of experience. If we need them, they should be ready. We expect Saturday to be different. The kids know that. Hopefully, it will be a long, good day.”
Fenwick coach Tee Pimsarn” “This is a good opportunity for the kids to work through things. That last week we’ve faced a lot of challenges. We’re up, we’re up, we’re up, then we’re facing adversity. So it’s getting our kids to understand how to respond at times. We came back the last set (down 19-9 vs. Hinsdale Central to close within 21-19), so we feel pretty good about the last one. A fast start would have been nice. We’re very young. But at least we’re a year older than last year. We’ve been talking to the kids a lot about our potential growth. I’m really excited about this group, the next couple of years and what we can do.”
Downers Grove North coach Mark Wasik: “This is the time of the season we need to start getting traction. We haven’t had a lot of gym time to this point, but it’s fun> We just lost (5-10 junior outside hitter and leading attacker) Kelly Crowley (for an undetermined length of time due to an undetermined knee injury), but we’re a deep team. We expect to continue to compete. (6-0 outside/middle hitter Jennifer) Buehler is still there. Little (5-8 sophomore outside hitter) Nicole Liu, No. 11. Watch out for her. She’s coming for you.”
