Carmel coach David Pazely: “Molly (Malzahn) in set one and Scarlett (Olszowka) in set two went on huge runs to open up the lead for Carmel. Molly stepped up with the first set still close at 18-17, but it quickly became 23-17 and the Corsairs finished it from there. Scarlett created a huge gap to start the second set and must have served 15 points in a row. These runs were aided by outstanding defense throughout the entire match which transitioned into kills from everyone, but Reese found her rhythm in the middle of the first set and kept the pressure on from there. We needed to bounce back after losing three matches in a row. The team came together before the match, and we could feel the positive energy when we broke the huddle. We weren’t at full strength, but players stepped up and we look to build on this.”
