Teutopolis coach Tim Mills: “What an amazing group of girls. Our energy level was through the roof before we even got off the bus. Momentum is such a huge part of the game, and we managed to keep it on our side almost all night. It helped that we never trailed in either set. We held a six-point lead late in the first set and let them get within one before scoring the set winner. Emma Isley stepped up in a big way. She led with seven kills, and I don’t think she was someone they prepared for. Our setters did such a great job of distributing the ball. We actually set our middles and right sides more than our outsides, and I’m not sure they expected that. Our blocking and defense were solid all night. Emily Meyer got a stuff block early in the second set that seemed to frustrate the St. Anthony hitter. It was a great night of volleyball.”

In set one, Emma Faulstick stepped to the service line and went 5-for-5 with four aces to tie the game at 20-20. Some great defense and a clutch kill from Shea Kelly got us up 24-22, and we closed it out with a Hersey hitting error. Our serve receive was outstanding in the second set at a 2.1 as a team, led by libero Beca Arreola. Hersey’s libero played some incredible defense to keep them in it, but Carmel was able to rally, survive and advance. We know the pressure only gets higher as we move on to play Lake Zurich.”
