Vernon Hills coach Chris Curry: “We really struggled to pass-serve early in the first set, but when we settled down a little, we were able to get our offense together and make a nice comeback. Noah Proft had his best match of the season. He was steady, he made good decisions, and he as much as anybody sparked the turnaround. Drake DeBoer was our most consistent guy all night. He only had two errors between hitting and serving, and when that happens, we get a lot tougher. Jack McDonald went on a 7- or 8-point service run in the second set where he placed everything perfectly. He was really tough to handle, and was steady in the serve receive … even if we didn’t involve him much in the offense.”
