Carmel (6-5 overall).
Carmel coach Dave Pazely: “The match was tight all night long. Both teams played well. The energy was electric and the atmosphere was awesome thanks to the student section. It’s the type of match you love to watch and love to compete in. I experienced something for the first time tonight as a coach. I watched the officials cost a team the game, and unfortunately, it was at Carmel’s expense. I am not one for making excuses, and this is not what’s happening here. As a teacher, I point out student mistakes so they learn from them and improve. The same is true when I coach my athletes and is something I do as a parent to my kids and as a professional in my own self-reflection. We need to acknowledge our mistakes and own them when they happen in order to prevent them from happening again. The officials made multiple mistakes in Game 3, and points that should have gone Carmel’s way, didn’t. Multiple times. As the score shows, it was as close as it gets. The scoreboard did not reflect the proper result. I feel bad for the girls, but they held their heads high at the end of the night because they know what they accomplished. I am proud of how they battled through that adversity and I know they will continue to find success.”
