Recap: Carmel trailed 24-20 in Game 1 but made a late run to close the gap. However, several serving and hitting errors created too big a hole to climb out of. In Game 2, Carmel made some lineup changes, some tactical changes and cleaned up its play. It paid off and Carmel controlled most of Game 2. The Corsairs stuck with those adjustments and started executing better in Game 3. With victory in sight, Carmel let off the gas with a couple late errors, but sealed the victory with a kill off the block from Ally DiBartolo.
Carmel coach Dave Pazely: “I’m happy with how the girls kept their composure throughout the match, but it was evident that we were out of sync early. This season has challenged teams to develop their identity in new ways and with much less time. Every day seems to have people missing for one reason or another, which explains the difficulty for us to be in rhythm from the beginning of a match. Hopefully, we can find that as we enter the last few weeks of the season.”
