Carmel coach David Pazely: “Carmel started the first set on a 5-0 run, stretched it to 9-2 and never looked back.The serve receive got more comfortable and the offense started to click as we finished the set on a 13-3 run. The second set started with a 9-3 run by the Corsairs followed by runs of 3, 5 and 7 points before finishing off the night. The second set saw the return of Charlotte Shepherd as she recovers from an injury over the summer and the speed of play increased the second she hit the floor.There was an epic rally in the middle of the second set when Emma Faulstick had two clutch digs and it was finished off when Charlotte flipped a set to the right side where Shea Kelly smashed it for a Corsair point. The energy was electric. Shout out to our amazing student section for their support tonight. The gym was rockin’. Everyone contributed to the win tonight on both sides of the ball. Carmel took a great step forward, but we know that bigger challenges await as we journey through this season. We are looking forward to the challenges that await in the Crosstown Classic.
Next up: Carmel will play Grant, Libertyville and Niles North on Friday at the Crosstown Classic.

Our setter, Kyah Creek, did a great job at seeing both sides of the court and knowing when to tip/dump over. There was a very long delay tonight and the girls did a great job of pushing through it and finishing out the set for the match win. It was definitely a late home match, but it was worth it in the end. I am so proud of these girls.”
