Mid-Suburban West rivals Fremd and Palatine joined forces Thursday to raise money to benefit Maeve’s Foundation, which was established by her parents and friends in 2005. Maeve died on July 29, 2004, as the result of a brain tumor that was diagnosed less than 36 hours before. She was only 26 months old. The mission of Maeve’s Foundation is to assist/fund programs and hospitals to: increase public awareness about the severity and prevalence of childhood brain tumors; aid in early detection of childhood brain tumors by increasing awareness of symptoms; help to find the cause and cure of childhood brain tumors through the support of medical research; and help support families with children living with brain tumors.
