Durand coach Molly Kelsey: “We played really well during pool play, our communication was strong and we utilized our hitters effectively. When we got to the championship we faced a very strong Galena. Our game was quick and on point during the first game. The second and third games our communication had a bit of a hiccup. We are really looking to put up a strong block to lead our defense during tough matches like these. Had the game gone to a full 25 points, I think the ending may have come out different due to our stamina; however with short games it is a quick sprint and it’s live and learn. The match gave us great insight into what we can improve on for future games. Overall, second place is a great way to start our season and I still believe these girls have huge potential to come throughout the season.”

Lawrenceville coach Trinity Britton: “Overall it was a great day for Indians volleyball at the Hutsonville Tournament with a 3-1 finish for second place. We made rotation adjustments following the Robinson match last week that seemed to help the team’s rhythm on the floor. It was great to have everyone contributing and to see them enjoying the game. The team played hard and fought through some tough matches including coming from behind against Hutsonville in the second set. We had a rough patch in the second sets against both Martinsville and Robinson where we struggled mentally, so that is an area we need to continue focusing on, developing and strengthening.”
