Carmel coach David Pazely: “Tonight was a rollercoaster of emotions and momentum.  Early in the first set, one of our defensive specialists chased down a ball off the court and sold out to save it.  In the process, she paid the price and suffered a bloody nose at the very least. The team rallied, players stepped in and stepped up, and we adjusted well to some unexpected adversity. From then on, our seniors led the charge. The seniors accounted for 16 of our 21 kills tonight and were more than just playmakers, they were the heart and soul of this team. Lauren (Olson) had probably her best match of the season with some timely kills and clutch blocks in a late run in set two. Molly (Malzahn) was everywhere tonight. She read the opposition so well and was in perfect position almost every play. Reese (Wagner) and Heather (Kintis) took turns making great decisions with the ball and only had one error between the two of them on a combined 28 attempts. That said, Antioch never gave up, never backed off and it is a testament to how well coached that team is.  Having lost to them at the beginning of the season, we knew we had our work cut out for us.  We are a different team now than we were in week one and we were able to redeem ourselves when it mattered most. We look forward to fighting for a regional championship Thursday against Prairie Ridge.”
